Bob Stuckey's Comments
I am a 61 year-old retired Engineer from the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. I retired in January of 2002 after 35 years with NASA. After I retired, my wife and I moved to our country property that has been in my family for 3 generations. We have 28 acres under Wildlife Management. My wife and I have been Texas Master Gardeners for the past 5 years, and as Master Gardeners we are entitled to take specialty classes hosted by the Texas AgriLife Extension Service administered by the Texas A&M University System. Last year we participated in a two-day Rainwater Harvesting Specialty training course. I came away from the course with a strong desire to build my own system, which became a yearlong endeavor that I documented as I went along so that I could share the process with others. I designed the system with some advice from one of the class instructors, and performed all of the installation and construction by myself, except for help from my son and nephew in placement of the three 3000 gallon collection tanks. The water is only filtered to remove particulates, and is used just for outside watering.
